On 2018 October 9th, JPS President, Hikaru Kawamura, and Canadian Association of Physicists(CAP) President, Bruce Gaulin, signed a Reciprocal Agreement between JPS and CAP. The signing ceremony, which was organized by the CAP's Director of International Affairs, Rituparna Kanungo, was held at the Embassy of Japan in Ottawa, hosted by His Excellency Ishikane, Ambassador of Japan.
Founded in 1877, JPS is an academic society with 16,000 members, 11 Nobel laureates in physics and 3 in chemistry.
